1. Dress modestly at religious sites and in conservative areas

Jordan is a moderate Muslim country. At Petra, Wadi Rum, and tourist areas, clothing standards are relaxed but shorts and sleeveless tops are acceptable. At mosques and in conservative cities like Salt or Karak, cover shoulders and knees.

2. Criticising the King or royal family is illegal

Insulting the King, the royal family, or state institutions is illegal in Jordan and can result in imprisonment. This applies to social media posts made from within Jordan.
