Express kidnapping (secuestro express) involving taxis — particularly unofficial ones — has increased in Santiago and other cities. Victims are forced to withdraw cash from ATMs. Always use licensed taxis or ride-hailing apps.

2. Altitude sickness is a serious risk in the north
