1. Remove shoes when entering traditional homes and some restaurants

Traditional Korean homes and some floor-seating restaurants require shoes to be removed at the entrance. Look for a lowered entrance area with a step up and shoe storage as your cue.

Tip: Wear clean socks. In restaurants with floor seating, you will be expected to sit cross-legged or with legs to the side.

2. Age hierarchy is important — follow Korean drinking etiquette

Korean drinking culture has rules around seniority: younger people pour for older, do not pour for yourself, hold the cup with both hands when receiving a pour, and turn away from an elder when taking a sip.
