1. Eating and drinking on the MRT is strictly prohibited

Consuming any food or drink on the Taipei MRT — including gum and water — is illegal and carries an on-the-spot fine. The system is famously clean and the rule is enforced.

2. Priority seats on public transport must be given up without question
