Nadi, Fiji
2 laws, restrictions, and customs in Nadi that travellers often break without knowing — and the fines or consequences that follow.
Fijian villages are governed by strong custom (talatala). Visitors must remove hats, cover shoulders and knees, and bring a gift of kava root (sevusevu) to the village chief before entering. Entering without observing these customs is considered deeply disrespectful.
Pointing with a finger at another person or at a ceremonial site is considered rude in Fijian culture. Use an open hand to gesture instead.
