1. Remove hats and dress modestly when entering villages

Fijian villages are governed by strong custom (talatala). Visitors must remove hats, cover shoulders and knees, and bring a gift of kava root (sevusevu) to the village chief before entering. Entering without observing these customs is considered deeply disrespectful.

2. Do not point at sacred sites or people with your finger

Pointing with a finger at another person or at a ceremonial site is considered rude in Fijian culture. Use an open hand to gesture instead.
