1. Métro

Sixteen lines, stations every few hundred metres, and the fastest way across the city.
Cost: EUR 2.15 single, cheaper in a carnet or on Navigo EasyTip: Buy a Navigo Easy card rather than paper tickets — cheaper per trip and it does not demagnetise.
2. RER

Tip: RER fares are zonal and a métro ticket does not cover the airports.
3. Vélib' bike share

5. Walking

Paris is smaller than it looks and best understood on foot.
Tip: Many métro trips of one or two stops are slower than walking once you count the stairs.
Booking apps in France
Agreeing the fare in an app before you travel removes the argument at the end of the
journey, which is where most transport scams happen. Links go to each app's official page —
lookalike apps are themselves a scam.
