1. Riptides are a leading cause of tourist death

Costa Rica's Pacific coast has some of the world's most dangerous rip currents. Multiple tourists drown every year, often at beaches with no lifeguards.

2. Do not buy or possess wildlife or wildlife products

Buying, selling, or possessing wildlife (iguanas, parrots, sea turtle eggs, coral) is illegal in Costa Rica under its strict biodiversity laws. This applies to souvenirs made from shells, feathers, or animal parts.
